Journal Entry Summer, 1985: Terry and I took off for a one month road trip. Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier, Banff, Jasper, and then the West Coast to my sister's house in Grants Pass before heading home. We biked or hiked every day. We saved most of the biking for the National Parks. We discovered riding in Canada was much safer. We ending up riding 500 miles.

Journal Entry 27, 2001: Jim Morton and I backpacked yesterday, free climbed the Owens-Spalding route very early this morning, and came all the way out tonight. We are now enjoying the most delicious pizza and beer. Of course we are as thirsty and hungry as a horse, so anything tastes great! This route is thrilling to say the least! The exposure is crazy! In one segment, you crawl across a ramp with your left leg dangling over a ledge. The 800 feet cliff nearly takes your breath away! We did bring ropes and rappelled 200 feet for the descent.
